programme from a special presentation by Pandit Manikrao Popatkar, (Tabla Player and Indian Music Teacher )
"All Artists have been properly trained under the proper guidence of pandit Popatkar" now thats proper! and indeed Pandit Popatkar was proper having played with Vilyat Khan,
Rav i Shankar,Prof Jogg etc .
we would provide PA equipment for various Living room tours
of indian musicians organised by Pandit Popatkar, also longsight Library and Asian Womens ascotiations (we were paid in samosas)
3 biting Tongues and Eric Random(of New Hormones fame) on tablas had a strange little band of electric guitar sax trombone and tablas. We once played
the Gaylord Indian Restaraunt (spring gardens central MCR)
when The Factory records Xmas works doo walked in completly by suprise, they were very suprised to find one of their acts on
in the corner near the bar..!
Also Dave Hassle noted MCR drummer and educator is mentioned in the program he played with Popatkar often.,Sandeep Popatkar was a very good tabla player ,Iseem to remember him playing with Martin Hannets Invisable Girls at the Gallery once.
