Gun Control were a fourpiece Bolton/Horwich based band who played a number of gigs in 1979.
The Line up was Gnasher(Vocals) Steve(Lead Guitar) Dill(Bass) and Tony(Drums).
The set consisted of original numbers including 'Missing Link' and 'Suburban Kid'. The band had a good support at the time, the most raucous of their followers coming from Horwich.
Gun Control mostly performed at the now demolished 'Bus-Inn nightclub' which held a regular Punk night on Tuesdays. The club itself was distinctive in that it used second hand bus-seats to host its customers and on non-punk nights was known locally as a centre for prostitution. The 'Bus-Inn' Tuesday Punk Nights became very popular, drawing in Punks from Manchester, Preston and Wigan.
Gun Control, who reheared in a church hall, played a solid Punk set with a lively amount of audience interaction. One of the few bands in Bolton to attract a genuine fan following.
Gun Control broke up in 1979 after Vocalist Gnasher joined the army, Guitarist Steve went on to perform in 'Fashions of Fate' and other bands also going on to become an author of note, Bassist Dill later performed with the excellent and innovative 'Mass of Black' and Drummer Tony went on to become a translator.
Gun Control did not cut vinyl, but were an excellent live act, bringing atmosphere to every gig that they played.
