A What’s On in M/c from Breakout music paper July ’85. I think this paper was published in Liverpool hence the little digs against M/c; just 'cos they were jealous....Don’t remember the anti-heroin bash in Heaton Park. I do recall the Pope doing a gig there though, maybe ’81 with special effects, costume changes, some groovy Gregorian chanting , hits from the thurible (a kind of incense churning smoke machine;had me go at being an altar boy as a young 'un; used to have fights over who would ring the bells. That was the best bit...) etc. in front of a sell-out capacity crowd. I think Bono Vox may have nicked some of J.P. 2’s showbiz tricks....Don’t mind Ratzo’s red shoebizz clicks neither; wouldn’t mind a pair of them! Good for Kung Fu kicks an' ting......
