Advert
Robinson's Records
18th November 1985

Add for Robinson’s Records down the bottom of Deansgate, (they also had a lot of film paraphernalia too, as this add shows). The place was huge. I remember onetime seeing The Native Hipsters “There Goes Concorde Again” in the racks. I bought something else and later went back to retrieve it but of course there it was, gone!....Ah well, thems the breaks.....

“This was always the last stop on my Saturday afternoon vinyl expeditions, purely as it was geographically closest to Victoria Station and the train home. I'm pretty sure the ground floor was music (vinyl, tapes, 8-tracks (!) and down the stairs were various units inc this Film Memorabilia Shop. They seemed to do a lot of picture framing and hanging as well. The music floor was a real free for all, with almost every type of genre catered for but always worth a sift. Remember getting L.O.V.E - Orange Juice 12" there.
Yet again Dubster, you pull out another ''Memory Road'' classic flyer! Cheers”

“Yeah, what a strange place! In its later days you went in through a diy and picture framing place called Hang Em And Bang Em. In earlier days, if memory serves be correctly, you went in through a greasy spoon cafe and then had to hand your other shopping bags in for fear of shoplifting. In return they gave you this massive wooden thing with a number on that you had to carry round. Jeez, not thought about that for years. I remember buying an early Skids single in there.”
