Flyer
Tom Smith
International 1
1988

Phew,at last! The last of The International flyers/ tickets; that seemed to take ages and I felt I was flagging....bit of a slog really. With all the stopping and starting, and uploading when I can, I've sort of lost track a bit of where I'm up to and although I'm trying not to repeat myself I'm sure I am. I'm also trying not to say the same things again as I've already said because that would be like re-iterating etc. etc.....
O.K., what else about The International.....? Well I did an upload way back about going to see Gil Scott Heron for the first time one freezing Winter's night circa '84 at The International 2 (still called The Carousel at that time as I recall). It was a long rant and as far as I know it never got uploaded (as happened with several others before I learned how to save a document).Pity 'cos it took me bloody ages.At some point I'll read back through this stuff just to check it all and maybe it'll be in there somewhere; but I feel it maybe got blown off track and may end up on some martian's lap-top one day....
Other gigs I particularly recall are Stone Roses at Int. 2 with Dub Sex in support, circa '88; Third World at the same venue, especially them doing their classical music medley which was always part of their show;Augustus Pablo with Junior Delgado, The Untouchables at Int 1 circa '84,an American ska band in the Two-Tone mode who were ace and lots of others who escape me now.
What really surprises me, looking through all these is how good the quality control was of whoever booked all these bands. There's nary a hint of a Bucks Fizz or a Kajagoogoo or a Wet Wet Wet in all of these, so well done you, whoever you may be...Looks like I've still got a fair bit to go but I will finish it, hopefully by Christmas....finger's crossed.
Guesstimating this flyer's circa '88.
Aaaaanyways must go and bridle up my mules, for to help Brother Jebadiah and Sister Sarah with their barn-raising, as is our Amish way....ciao 4 now....
