The Hacienda
1989

One of my tax forms from The Hacienda. I started working as a pot-collector in 1988. It was when Leroy was bar manager. It was good fun, nice people, a reasonably easy job, good food... after 2am, when the club closed and the place had been tidied a bit everyone would sit down and have a drink and a smoke and a laugh- there was a good atmosphere amongst the staff.

After a while Leroy asked me if I could help out more, including coming in on Saturday mornings and checking the stock etc... I was sort of working my way up the ladder a bit. One day Leroy asked me if I would like to go with him as they were opening a bar on Oldham Street called Dry Bar. I thought about it but decided I didn't want to, and infact handed in my notice when Leroy moved.
