An example of a reggae chart from ’83.Like I mentioned earlier,I think to reach No.1 in the U.K. reggae charts, in general you had to sell around 2000 copies or so unless it crossed over into the main stream. Of course with a lot of these records if you didn’t get them in the first or second week there was a good chance you might not get them again.This list is from a shop in The Bull Ring but it would be pretty much the same in Murray’s,The Moss Side Market stall or the other shop up near the Fuzzy Piranha pet shop on Princess Rd.(where the band The Piranhas of “Tom Hark “ fame once did a photo shoot,but that’s an entirely different story........).
