Artefact
The said ticket from previous, with Benjamin Zephenia,a spoken word exponent (of which there were a few around;L.K.J. Atilla the Stockbrocker etc.phenomenon of the time...?)The University Union used to put on lots of good bands but unless you could get hold of a dodgy student card you had to rely on students to get you in (don't get me started..).It was a tad difficult at times.Sometimes someone would open a fire door or window and you'd try and pile in;or do "steamers" were a load of you would charge the door and maybe one or two would get pass the bouncers.I particularly remember a freebie Siouxsie gig that way.You could get away with it at the Free Trade Hall but The Apollo was hard as the bouncers didn't take too kindly to it.Jeez I haven't thought about this stuff in years, surprised I can still remember any of it!The Manchester Poly (Cavendish Building) let anyone in though, so good on 'em!
