Flyer
The Corner, Fallowfield
2009

This is a flyer for Saturday night at The Corner, Fallowfield. It's run by Trof...

The wise-acres who run this night have listed the albums they play tracks from rather than band names.

I wonder what they play off 'The Best of Wings?' I hope it's 'Let Me Roll It'.

Here's some blurb about 'The Corner'.

"Kicking complacency firmly in the groin and whacking our laurels around the face; the people behind Trof are proud to present our newest bar - The Corner! We’ve dispensed with the glamour and opulence of our beloved Deaf Institute, thrown caution into the wind and even let a total moron write our press release. Only open in the evenings and closing in the wee small hours, the bar has an interior created with the nighttime in mind. To the untrained eye, it may appear that we decorated the place with a load of stuff we found at the tip, but you’re wrong. We employed special professors of rad, to optimize the aceness and good-time factors.

Harking back to the scuzz of Manchester’s vibrant warehouse scene and casting a knowingly envious eye to Berlin; The Corner sits (surprisingly enough) on a corner; sandwiched between the bustle of Wilmslow Road and the student utopia of Landcross Rd. But don’t let put you off! (sorry students, we love you too!) The Corner couldn’t really be further away from the average Fallowfield hellhole. Sure, our drinks are cheap, but you will never ever hear Oasis and you will never ever get a dude trying to sell you roses.

Since opening back in mid-march, the bar has already gained a loyal following from anyone with a finger on the pulse or an ear to the ground. Every night of the week, we’ll be having performances from the city’s finest underground DJ’s, all channeled through a sound system that’d make Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry shit his pants. We run the place and do all the boring stuff like stocking the bar etc etc. but it still feels like we’ve broken in with a load of crazed degenerates and started a pretty ace party."
