Ticket
Rob Fletcher
The New Ardri
21st June 1994

A ticket for a Herbal Tea Party event featuring a great performance from Orbital. I think it was a warm-up for their Glastonbury appearance of that year.

Also featuring David Holmes.

“I went to this and also saw them at Glastonbury which was on the Saturday and both times they were awesome. Went to several Herbal Tea Parties and loved them. I used to like the fact that when you went to the bar after wading through loads of Crusty types "raving"there were blokes dressed in black dinner type suits with frilly shirts al la Phoenix Nights gazing agog at the goings on. The Herbal Teas on offer were awful tasting but supposedly a legal high so had to be sampled (never did anything for me). The night was a mini Megadog of sorts with all the drapes, lights and smoke and the music was excellent.Megadogs at the Academy were brilliant also. Each one featured 3 or more acts that were in vogue at the time. Went to all the early ones and saw System 7, Ultramarine,808 State, Eat Static, Ozrics, Timeshard,Pressure of Speech,Autechre,The Grid,Transglobal Underground and loads more..till one day just felt too old for it..The security there were a bunch of thugs who I saw mugging students in the toilets on several occasions...”

“This was my first ever experience of a dance club.
I was a dyed in the wool rocker, used to go to Jillys and the Ritz, this night completely changed my perceptions on what good music was and what a good night out was.
I remember very little from the night other than being a very happy, smiley, sweaty mess by the end of it and walking back to Rusholme afterwards in a rather happy daze.

This is a big (very big) part of what started me DJing.
This is the night that expanded my consciousness to include electronic music.
This is the night that introduced me to Orbital.
This is the night that paved the way to a very blurry and incredibly fun decade.

Rob Fletcher, you have an awful lot to answer for, and I thank you for every fine second of it.”
