“Zounds are still going today i think, they used to play with Crass and the Mob a lot.”

“Zounds were a bit more hippy than the rest of the Crass set; drummer went on to form Blythe Spirit; worth following up (Wikipedia is a good starting point)”

“I think you mean "Blyth Power" Mitch, Joseph Porter was that drummer”

“Ta bornred! Good correction. Crass nights were a bit beyond chaotic; the ideal of "anarchy, peace and freedom" was hardly met; it was a right ruck; I went to the Mc/r Poly gig; afterwards Cavendish St was lined with police vans.

Right. I'm off to form a band called Blythe Spirit. Anyone know any ex-Zounds members who want to join me? :)”

“Abdom, my diary says it was Zounds but that aint necessarily reliable. Can't recall seeing either of em.”

“I was in Abdominal Pain and we definitely supported Crass and Poison Girls at the Mayflower. I have the gig guide in my attic, I reckon either they (Crass and Poison girls) played the Mayflower more than once or we were actually 4th support and i have just forgotten about Zounds.
I will look into it!
I have looked into it we supported Crass and Poison Girls on the 19th October 1979 I was a year out.”

“this was the first time i had seen crass, totally blew my head off,was a quid to get in,line up was first up Annie Anxiety who was subjected to a whole load of moronic abuse and left the stage in tears, next on were Zounds, next were the Poison Girls then finally Crass.when they came on the whole place seem to erupt into full on violence instigated by nazi skins who had a habit of turning up at crass gigs to start trouble.
was well impressed by the banks of televisions all showing different films to go along with the music, was also given a lot of free flyers and newspapers that crass/poison girls had made themselves.a multimedia event well before the term was ever used.punk started to mean something very different to me from then on,something that had a very positive effect on me and to some extent still does.
oh,unless i am getting the dates wrong dont remember Abdominal pain playing this, tho i could be wrong after all it was 29 years ago!”
