Artefact
Listings from Sounds, Record Mirror and the NME showing a gig at The Derby Hall, Bury on 3rd July 1981 - White Lightnin', The Chameleons, Adrian Mitchell. I played double bass in White Lightnin' and we had played the Derby Hall before and had quite a following in Bury. The gig had been booked for a while, the Chameleons were added later (it was their first gig as the Chameleons) they had done a John Peel session which was aired around the time of the gig and so by the 3rd July they had quite a buzz going. After the gig I used to bump into Dave Fielding a lot on my way home from school (I was 15) - think he had a flat on Gill St, off Moston Lane.

Music For The Deaf!
Possibly the only gig for a band with very fluid membership - I remember having a go on the drums once, then on the guitar.
And who can forget the Anthemic 'What did we do up Holcombe Hill on a Good Friday?'
Warbie from White Lightnin' works at the same NHS Trust I do, and tells me he's still doing session work - last I recall was harmonica for The Doves.
I love this site!
