“Surprised the Stones were playing such a small venue at this stage of their career. Even more amazing that they would have been booked for the MDH first.”

“Hi! A couple of weeks ago i was approached to produce a small collection of paintings on the music scene in Manchester. To cut a long story short I stumbled upon this music archive and your fantastic ticket stubs. With your permission, of course, I would like to use your ticket imagery in some of my paintings. Where the original images came from would be stated with completed paintings. Anyway you'd be making my year if you accepted. If you have any questions i'd be happy to answer them. Thankyou so much. Janine”

“David Griffiths writes:

I queued all night outside for a ticket (along with enough people to completely encircle the building) the box office ran out about 50 people ahead of me as they were selling multiple tickets to people in an incredible show of insensitivity to those who were there overnight, in snow, I might add...We sheltered under a tarpaulin that was on the steps at the front of the building as there was some king of major building work going on.In remarkable show of Dunkirk spirit someone handed me a bottle of QC wine with a piece of rubber tubing stuck in it which I assume was to allow the stuff to enter your stomach without the taste buds being involved as it was grisly stuff...it was like a scene from Withnail and I...never got to see them in the end but I heard Jagger popped out of a trapdoor on the stage during Sympathy for the Devil and it was an awesome gig.”
