This badge was made for a trip to Rome by a group of hardcore New Order fans called 'the Vikings'.

New Order are no more, but friendships forged stage-left are as strong as ever.

Desperate for an excuse for an away day, the Vikings heard that Hooky would be guesting at a Section 25 gig in Rome. Flights and hotels booked, badges made and the gig was cancelled. Sod it, we said, we're going anyway.

We caught a Gabrielles Wish gig, then let them beat us at pool. We also watched Lazio play Cagliari at the Olympic Stadium in the worst game of football any of us could remember seeing (but you could buy lager without leaving your seat, which we liked).

The badge bears the Italian translation of our name (we reckon), the date and a bird in flight, which looked better than the Ryanair Airbus that we actually flew on.

The lamest of excuses for a badge, perhaps, but one of the prettiest we made.
