Deeply Vale (Festival)
20th July 1978

this was the programme I drew up for the six days of bands playing at Deeply Vale in 1978 and was one of only two types of duplicated flyer for the fesival and 20,000 people were there by the Steve Hillage day - it could be that Manchester Mekon slipped in and opened on the first day but from my memory they didn't come to play at Deeply until 1979 and that is what is shown in the 1979 festival records

“Hi Ozit. I swear man this was my first ever live band experience. I was 14 years old and got drafted into stopping and directing traffic on the friday and saturday morning...funny I got ignored! On the nights I was on back stage duty at the top off the ramp stopping people going back stage....Guess what!!...Same again!! But tell ya what! I,ll never forget it, even climbing the hill to go to the loos in the misty morning ..and the calls of."Who killed Liddle" long into the night!! Most of the bands that weekend caused the shape of my life! Held with great affection!!! Cheers!!”

“I was in the Still- we played before Steve Hillage. We had to pause during the set whilst the finalists of the "Longest Joint" competition came on stage in order for the winner to be decided. Great days”

“if I had £10 for every band that said they went on before Steve Hillage in 1978 I would be a millionaire
the band that went on before Steve Hillage was Visitor 2035 and I have the recordings and photographs to prove it and I supervised the change over and mix of both bands and live mix annd recording of Hillage- still if it improves their CV”

“Hey Ozitl. We were on same day as Hillage I have no idea who played after us or what time he was on. But in geographic terms we were on before Hillage. :) I just remember the joint rolling comp and that our set included a cover of New York City by T Rex. Do you have any recordings of our band from that day at all?”
