“Red house was (is?) a cheap and cheerful basement rehearsal space off Rochdale road, near to the Marble Arch. We spent many a sweaty hour with the condensation dripping off the roof when tall Al ran it in the mid 90's.”

“sadly red house is no longer there and is now an apartment block which looks more like offices...this flyer is from when dee ran the place and opend up the very back room for gigs...we was there when big al ran the place, the smell of veg currys and damp filled the air...i remeber al's band having a brass section but cant for the life of me remember what they was called ??”

“Southport were the guitarist & bass player from Snuff. They got a bit sniffy because they had Gordon Smith (English obviously) guitars, whereas I had an American (Gibson SG) one. Good lads though, and wasn't one of them sick after drinking something dark strong and cloudy in the Marble Arch up the road???!!!”

“ah yes....i remember the english/american guitar thing, dont think they knew what to make of us at first (who did ?) they did say after we played that we was good live.....but that we would'nt make it ??
dont know what that meant exactly.”

“Redhouse Al's band were called 'Soul Finger'.

Southport should know that the Gibson SG is 'THE' punk rock guitar.......'Damned Damned Damned', nuff said!”

“Incidently, for those who are interested in Redhouse Al's current musical activities, he's now playing guitar for local soul band 'The Casino Allstars' who were the first live band to play Manchester's legendary 'Twisted Wheel' club (now re-opened) for 38 years.

Corned beef basking shark arrangement.”

“Big Al built that studio himself and the likes of The Fall and Freddie Garrity rehearsed there. Al had a meeting with Morrissey way back who was forming a new band. Al thought him a bit strange.......and we know the rest.
Soulfinger was a great live band and loads of fun.
The last lead singer was Ben Brierley.”

“Hey SOULFINGER! I had forgotten about them how come they are not on the bands list site?
They used to play Band on the wall and other places in about 1984 great live show, love those horns.”
