“If thats the case its a bloody big ticket ( A5 ) I cant remember flourishing it like an old five pound note. Everything was much bigger in those days...”
“I accept that if yours is A5 size then it is a flyer, i'm sorry for questioning your statement but the tickets were exactly the same as the picture above, i remember having it on the back of my bedroom door for years along with all my other tickets. As for the gig itself my main memory was of this guy near me who was obviously a big fan of Dave Vanian, looked and dressed like him etc, whilst everyone else was spitting phelgm at the band he had a tube of fake blood at was spitting this at the band!”
“Just found a set list for Vice Squad at The Mayflower, i'll upload it at some point, as with your tickets, it spent some time blu-tacked to the back of my bedroom door.
Talking of fake blood, the only time I encountered this was during the set by The Meteors when they supported Theatre of Hate at the Poly. The singer bit into a capsule hidden in his mouth mid-song, either that or he'd bitten through his tongue.”
“I remember one Damned gig at the Mayflower cannot remember if this was it. Captain Sensible spraying lighter fluid on his cymbals and lighting it whilst he belted them causing goblets of flame to rise in the air
always put on a good show the Damned.”
“This was the evening show they did on the 8th of August as they did an afternoon show the same day in Alexandra Park which was the Free Northern Carnival Against The Missiles event that John Cooper Clarke, The Freshies all played and I think Hawkwind were meant to be on but didnt show.
