The Gallery
1983

The gallery was a nice little venue with a mixed history of live music and club nights- the system were anarcho punk I think ?? in the vien of Crass- anyone know anything about them ?? - dont know much about "ANDY T" - think he was also a solo anarcho poet performer-

“I was at this gig, and still have a couple of singles by The System, who were from St. Helens.
Andy T was a mate from Rochdale and had a single out on Crass, as well as a track on the Bullshit Detector compilation with his band Reputations in Jepoardy. He got in touch after seeing another of my posts. He's had a lot of illness but he's still here, which is good to know.
I saw Poison Girls at the Gallery as well, the day Greenham Common was encircled., and I played here later myself.
There must have been some sort of private snooker club or something through the back door near the mixing desk , because it was at one of these gigs that I saw Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins wandering through with that Canadian snooker player who looked like an Easter Island statue. ( can't remember his name.)
I liked this intimate venue as well, with its balcony. I remember they filmed some band for 'The Tube' here.”

“I played at The Gallery with The Brigade, more times than I can remember.
Great live music venue. Plus, lots of reggae in the bar downstairs.
We used to start off in Topper's Bar next door. And, next door to that, Topkapi Kebab House. I used to have a kebab before we went on stage and one after, having burned so many calories.”

“I remember seeing Bo Diddley at the Gallery, maybe 1983 or 84.”
