“I'd already designed the Slaughter logo when they asked me to come up with a poster. I don't remember if I came up with the "tear you apart" line, or whether they already had that in mind. I remember delivering the artwork at The Oaks (it must have been one of Rob Gretton's first promotions) and meeting Tosh Ryan for the first time. I remember he paid me in cash, which was a nice surprise ... although I can't remember what I charged.
From there, they had me design Slaughter's "Cranked Up Really High" sleeve, which was the first release on Tosh's Rabid Records. After that, I designed the sleeves for most of the Rabid output - The Nosebleeds, Jilted John, etc. And when Slaughter and Jilted John got signed to majors (Decca and EMI respectively) they commissioned me to do the album artwork.”
