“Was at this gig suicide were boo'd mercilessly, I thought they were great had their album imported from usa with frankie Teardrop on it, john peel played them a lot. The clash had played recently at the Elizabethan hall, Belle Vue with siouxsie and was filmed by Tony Wilson at granada, I was pushed through the glass doors due to crowd trouble I didnt hurt myself but walked in free with several hundred other fans. The footage is still shown today of the concert.”
“I saw Suicide open for The Cars at the Universal Amphitheater in LA that same year. Outdoor, open-air theater at the time; held about 6000 people or so I believe, and all of them except me started booing Suicide after the first song, and eventually drove them off stage after maybe 3 or 4 (I don't remember). It's very strange standing up and clapping for a band (they were GREAT, I was loving it!) and turning around and realizing no one else was ... I was afraid I'd get lynched!”
