The Deaf Institute

The Return of The Sun Ra Arkestra .
One of the most important bands ever -
In my world theyd be on at the evening news arena with a public holiday and a parade! But The Deaf Institutel will do.

Typical brave move by Golden Lab Records -theyve been pulling all kinds of good stuff over to MCR for a few years now .putting the edge back.see link below

SunRa is dead of coarse and the Band is now under the direction of Marshall Allen- who is enough reason to go by himself- but I believe a 14 piece band is with him some of which have been in it since the 60s if not the 50s.

They came a couple times to the RNCM, see article on this site

“I must go to this one. There is enough bods in the band to fill the place without an audience.I saw them at the RNCM the last time they were on and still have the" We Travel the Spaceways" Tee shirt somewhere.Must dig that out for the occasion(if it still fits and the moths have left it alone)I assume its pay on the door.”

“My failing eyes just spotted the writing at the bottom of the poster. Will it be possible to pay on the door? It will have to be a decision I make on the night due to family pressures and a wife who does not appreciate the importance of these guys over me contributing to domestic chores...”

“Phew...I got a couple last night when my mincers finally focused on the ticket website address and after squaring it with a wife who does not appreciate the Solar Myth Approach to music favoured by the Arkestra.I grew up listening to that stuff so am greatly looking forward to the night. At the risk of sounding like some king of drunkard,do they serve liquid libation in the D and D institute these days or should I go early and fill up at that ghastly student pub next door?”

“Deaf Institute has limitless anaesthetic on tap. No need to go anywhere esle.”
