This concert at the Maxwell Hall was part of the Lowry centenary celebrations.
I suspect this is the gig Stuart Maconie mentions in his book 'Cider with Roadies', although he says it took place at Manchester University:
"...three of the city's finest sons in a positively back slapping orgy of civic pop pride, culminating in a set by The Fall at the height of their powers. ' Hit the North' , 'Mr.Pharmacist' and 'Victoria' were all yapping worryingly at the trouser leg of the chart. They were sexy, literally, Brix and Marcia providing the visual counterpoint to the preponderance of pasty-faced blokes in pullovers on stage..."
