20th February 1982

Between 1980 and 1982 I lived at 211 Withington Road, Whalley Range with The Cocktail Party, the band I was in. The house was a gloriously ramshackle 7 bedroom, 3 storey (plus cellar) Victorian detached house and we had a rehearsal room and recording room in the cellar. Carmel and Bee Vamp, good friends of ours, used the rehearsal room too. The photos show Jim Paris, Paul Ablett, Carmel and Carmel's sister waiting for the van to arrive to take us all down to Birmingham with a shot of Martin King at the venue. I've recently digitised the recording of the gig which is an absolute belter. And I still have the poster too. It's not hoarding, it's creative, curatorial collecting!
