“what a shame :-(”
17 Jun 2008
“its a bloody shame... the rate of disappearing old buildings in manchester and salford is criminal - i'm pretty certain there's been a lot of council back-handers going on for the last ten or so years. hundreds of beautiful old victorian hotels, pubs, cinemas and dance halls have all been demolished - and some the land hasn't even been re-built on. I heard the old theatre in eccles is likely to be knocked down soon to be made into - guess what?- 'luxury' apartments! i'm pretty sure chapel street will be next, and of course the odeon is already doomed. real history is being wiped and i think it's a real shame and something that will haunt the councils in the future. manchester and salford are just going to start looking like eastern europe in 1980 with all the cheap, grey blocks they've put up over the last few years.

rant over, but still fuming.”
