At last! My chance came to see the Cocteau Twins live... i'd been a fan since my early teens, buying all their magnificent 12''s... (oh peppermint pig and the sunburst and snowblind eps!!!) but i'd never seen them.

this was a good gig - i don't remember weatherall but i do remember my friend jules somehow managed to get backstage and met liz fraser!

“The Cocteaus played the Hacienda in about 84/85. The place was rammed - which wasn't always the case in those days!

Liz Fraser was struggling with a bad throat and the gig was stopped after about 3 songs. It was rescheduled a few weeks later at, if I remember correctly, the Tropicana above Rafters on Oxford Rd. I'm sure I would have gone - I love/d the Cocteaus, but I've no memory of it at all.”

“I was at the Hacienda in about 83-84 to see Pete Wiley's latest incarnation Wah heat I think?
The place was half empty or half full depending on your perspective and the band were getting a fair bit of heckling. One or two of the guys who were doing it I recognized as City fans. The band had a toaster or rapper/dancer with them who was copping most of the flack. Half we through the gig he went mental trying to kill the guys in the crowd and the band walked off. Does anyone else remember this gig?
sorry if I have gone a bit off the subject”

“I remember that Wah! gig, and its sudden ending as he threw most of the drum kit at them thereby ending the set.”

“I do remember the first Cocteau's Hac gig, Liz Frazer looking VERY uncomfortable facing an audience and twiddling her thumbs throughout the set. I don't remember it ending early though ?”

“Sorry Flannel the gig that finished early was a Pete Wiley Gig for either Wah, Wah Heat or the mighty Wah.
I have gone off subject sorry!
Tony had jogged a long forgotten memory by mentioning the Haciendas early days.
I should have posted under Hacienda I suppose.
Mind you the Ritz is (or was) practically next door.
As short stroll anyway”
