Flyer
Starless & Bible Black
21st March 2008

Flyer for Whalley Range's famous folk club, Hedge. Starless and Bible Black are a Manchester experimental folk act named after the track on Stan Tracey's acclaimed 'Under Milk Wood' album. I saw Starless play at the Contact Theatre and they did a hushed folk version of an incredibly creepy Billy Childish song. Raswan Ullah - who taught me on my music technology course - threw his laptop on the floor at the end. Grrrrr.

“"It is spring, moonless night in the small town, starless and bible-black, the cobblestreets silent and the hunched, courters'-and-rabbits' wood limping invisible down to the sloeblack, slow, black, crowblack, fishingboatbobbing sea."

First line of Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood".
There is a King Crimson album called "Starless and Bible Black".”
