Joy Division, The Things, Thunderboys

Most would have put money on the THUNDERBOYS replacing JOY DIVISION as Manchester’s top act 1980 including erstwhile NME journo MICK DUFFY but few might have tipped my favourite band, the absolutely fabulous THINGS also mentioned by the prophet of all things muso!
In the end Joy Division of course ended up replacing themselves in the shape of one of Britain’s most influential bands ever NEW ORDER. So no change at the top then in 1980.
