Dry Bar
1989

Dry 201 opened on 24th July 1989, and [typical Factory] paid to have pint pots etched with 'Dry 201'. I can't remember if the half pint glasses had the same etching. I remember how smart the glasses were, compared to pub pint pots. They felt heavy and solid.

Dry bar was a great venue from its opening in 1989 till 1993. There was nothing else like it, and apart from Affleck's Palace, Eastern Bloc Records, and The Vinyl Exchange, there was nothing else going on along Oldham Street. There was no 'Northern Quarter'. From 1993, I preferred to go to the Athenaeum, on York Street, before going to The Hacienda, or Yellow, at The Boardwalk. Great times to be in the city.
