A familiar scene in The Mayflower club in the early '80s. Vice Squad playing in August.
Singer Beki untangling herself from silly string that was being sprayed around.

“Hi Neil,
These photos are great, are they your own? If so, would it be alright to use some of these in a post-graduate student Documentary film on Manchester punk & rock culture? Let me know what you think, cheers.”
“Hello Luke,
You can use them in your documentary but please credit the photographer (myself) in your work and that would be great.
You can also send me a link to your finished effort.
It was an interesting time in Manchester in the early 1980's”
“Hi Neil, thanks so much for this!
I will make sure to credit you on screen & can send a link over if I could get an email from you? Alternatively, you could email @red.beat.common@gmail.com & I'll get back to you there. The film is called 'Overground, Underground' & has already been accepted into the Doc 'N Roll Film Festival - Manchester Shorts Section based on a previous cut. My production studio is @rbt.cmn or RedBeatCommon on different pages/platforms.
Thanks again, Luke”
“Love these photos. Takes me right back. I started going to the Mayflower Club when I was about 15. I actually saw Discharge, Anti-Pasti, Chron Gen, Damned, UK Subs, Cockney Rejects, Exploited, Crass, Conflict and a bunch of others. I always got my ticket usually a quid from Record Peddler on Swan Street. Jesus H Christ it's another world away in relation to the time past but I absolutely loved it in that mad place. Apart from the odd ruck with New Romantics, the odd pisshead or moronic skins it was feckin gold.”
“Certainly is another world. All got a bit fragmented after the Mayflower closed it's doors. Not many inner city venues of that size that would take those sort of bands.”
