“I have some internal photos of friends when we frequented the Heavy Rock nights on Thursdays but not of any of the bands who played there unfortunately.”
“i saw elp there, with the moving tarkus armadillo!they had moving walls which was weird if you stood against them.the disco speakers were the largest id ever seen about 7 foot tall and 6 foot square!there must have been about 10 of them in a semi circle,no distortion either!they filmed a lot there as well,i remember a girl called ayesha doing a show, i think it might have been called lift off . the bay city rollers did a few programmes there too for granada i think.last band i saw there was dr feelgood, must of been 76 or maybe 77.”
“I was at his gig, but are you sure it was 1972? I'm pretty certain it was 1974....
Anyway it was Bad Company's try-out tour, they hadn't even released "Can't Get Enough" at this time. They were absolutely amazing, and the venue was perfect. Saw them later that year at The Opera House and they were terrible!”
“The Hardrock did not open until Sept 1972 and according to my research the Bad Company gig is Sunday 14th April 1974 which is one of the only gigs at The Hardrock in 1974 - my book will contain the definitive list (Hi Margaret :) johnmac can you get intouch would love to interview you”
