The Oxford Road precinct will present a unique opportunity to students of UMIST, says Lord Bowden. When the Northern School of Music and the Royal Manchester College of Music close to funnel their energies into the Northern College of Music, he hopes that it will be instrumental in the "educating and humanising, if you like, of scientists, lawyers and engineers who are qualifying for their life's work" at the universities.
