Artefact
"Have you learned to play an instrument and if so, was it from choice?" Cut right to the quick there, huh? In an attempt to lift children's expectations and spirits, this reader cites from the Northern School of Magazine a bunch of students who have gone to be successful in their arts careers. "Good to see the young people going places." Including Joan Adams, Frank Holdsworth who is at the Hallé, Sylvia Schneck, Douglas Townshend as well as those from speech and drama including Helen Reynolds, Margaret Ghent and Rita Thorpe.
Tagged on the end is a praising review of the school's production of Mignon at the Lesser Free Trade Hall, conducted by Aylmer Buesst and produced by Sumner Austin.
