Photo taken in Spin Inn Records, Manchester's original dance specialist.

This was taken when the shop had moved from it's original location on Cross St to Pall Mall, just around the corner.

The picture shows Kenny passing a record to Hewan Clarke
(DJ at The Gallery, Hacienda amongst numerous others)
while Mike works out the bill at the counter.

“excellent. many a saturday afternoon spent browsing the soul/house/hip hop printed top ten lists on the counter (and going away with a few UK (affordable to a 14 year old) releases (usually on Champion label), and asking them to stick my "pieces" up on the walls. The new shop at Pall Mall was a breath of fresh air after having to squeeze into the narrow Cross Street shop.”

“Yes i was always afraid to go in the old Cross Street Spin Inn but then it moved to the old military tailors shop in Underground Market on Pall Mall - i recall rushing down there to buy a copy of De La Soul's Three Feet High And Rising that Stu Allan had played on sunday night and due to all the sampling issues it was likely to be withdrawn...it wasn't but i do still have a nice import copy...THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER !”
