“I recorded at Cargo, in about 1980/81. I was still at Oulder Hill School, but as a music fan I remember studying all the covers pinned to the sound room door, and being fascinated by the whole proccess of recording.
Along with our wonderful drama teacher, the late Jeanette Dawson, we'd written and performed our own school musical- 'Schizophrenia'. ( A boy gets a bump on the head and decides he wants to be a rock singer- story of my life. ) Amongst the musicians and cast there were several future musical movers and shakers, but the sessions were notable for the first recorded vocals by Lisa Stansfield. If you listen to the tape her voice already sounds incredibly professional.”
