Northern School Of Music (NSM)
1965

The Northern School of Music's Speech and Drama student stage "The House of Bernarda Alba", a play by Frederico García Lorca, in the studio theatre of the school. It was directed by Adelaide Trainor. The play works well with the high ratio of women to male students as it is about women in Spanish village, with themes of oppression, conformity, repression and sexuality, the effect of men on women. Lorca was supposedly murdered by nationalists in Spanish Civil War.
