In lieu of a camera, he's sent Ida a couple of picture postcards of Burton-on-the-Water where he's holidaying. He sings the praises of the model village, the trout in the river and the large newer houses not in the model. He's enjoying working around the village but "one ought to have a car for the complete exploration of this district." Either way he wishes to be with her.
