Griff knows that the outing Ida arranged will go off brilliantly. He's been to the cricket and writes about how Walt Whitman inspired so many composers.
He discusses concerts and that he never spotted Hilda Collens and Granville Hill ("our distinguished critic") and nearly played a trick on the back of a dress at the Milton Hall but refrained. He compliments her on her lovely dress and plans the rest of his week out, as well as inviting her to the cinema.
