Receiving letters from Ida helps Griff get through the week until he can see her at the weekend.
He's picking up work in the Oldham travel office but he "generally did nothing that will justify the expenses sheet I shall present at the end of the week!"
Ida's been thinking of visiting the Royal Academy of Music - likely to attend the student exams of the Matthay School of Music - but London is making Griff nervous through the war.
