Guys, Griff has *feelings*. He writes to Ida, "already very lonely because I know I shan't see you tomorrow, but bearing up fairly bravely on the whole and thinking and dreaming (last night, and no wonder) of you a lot." He rhapsodises, "oh darling, you are so very lovely, and going home is such a bore. I want just to stay very close to you all the time, and if I can't be very close, I want to be close, and if I can't be close I want to be near."
