Griff writes to Ida while she's away on a break. He's off to Buxton "to open the football season" and he's very excited for this season's opportunities. He's been writing to everyone he can think of to announce the opening, including newsagents and newspapers.
He urges her to "forget School for a few days, precious - it will keep. You can look back with pride to such good work."
