Artefact
Backstage at The Elizabethan, Belle Vue - Slaughter & The Dogs, late 1977. In the foreground that's Mick Rossi (in the cap) talking to me (Steve McGarry) and the future Mrs McGarry. I notice I'm sporting a badge with the original dog's head logo that I designed for the band. That logo was superceded by the rabid dog that was used on the Decca album sleeve, and is still used on all the promo to this day. Not sure who the guy with the moustache on the left is. In the background that's designer Les Thompson - we both designed sleeves for Slaughter at various points - in the dark sweater, and Martin Hannett talking to Slaughter bassist Howard Bates (leather jacket, facing camera.) The guy in the white shirt behind me is Stan the Man from V2. I don't remember much about the night except that the crowd was still heavily into gobbing on the bands at that point in time ... and that the beer backstage was warm.
