“i saw them around this time- probably the same tour infact but at hammersmith palais (i think) and the guests then were psychobilly band Restless (who played uin their pajamas)”
“Pretty sure I saw SoD (or was it Theatre of Hate still?) at the old cinema (not the Tameside Theatre) in Ashton which put a few gigs on in around 82/83. Also Gary Glitter and Fat Larry's Band of "Zoom" fame/shame - I missed them!!
Quite a few reviews cite SoD as an influence on the early Stone Roses.
Theatre of Hate supported the Clash at the Apollo on the Bankrobber tour. I imagine Ian Brown would definitely have been there as he was at the recording session for Bankrobber which took place in Manchester - see story under Pluto Recording Studios listing.”
“Tony.........it was the Metro, just after it changed from the Odean.Twisted Sister also played there but for some reason the gigs did'nt last for long.It featured in a scene from the film 'East Is East' and I used to go along on Saturday mornings to watch Flash Gordon,Hoppalong Cassidy and the Three Stooges for a tanner!!.”
“I saw Paul Weller when he was in the Style Council in this old cinema in Ashton with Tracy as support the gig was a bit kack really but having been a Jam fan I thought it was worth a visit”
