“The Closed were from Ashton they had a lead singer called Lick (I think) his girlfriend was called Louise Booth or Boothie I cannot remember fully but I think she was in the band. The Closed actually hired the Town Hall and got us to play. I was in Abdominal Pain (before you ask I was the good looking one).
The Hall actually got a bit busted up and one of the guys from "The Closed" ended up paying for the damage himself. To my eternal shame I nor anyone else helped him pay off the money and I always made myself scarce whenever he came in the Birch or wherever. I have even forgotten the poor b'stards name. But that's Rock n Roll”

“Hello Abdom

I was that poor b'stard. £600 bloody quid!! Don't worry, I'm not going to send the boys round, just buy me a pint if you're ever in Montreal. The name was Jim, by the way. Are you Paul or Ez (both of you were, of course, dashingly good looking)? On reflection, £600 was a small price to pay for a pretty good anecdote about my wild punk days.”

“JIM JIM of course it was, I am Paul of course, Eric no where near me in the looks department! 600 quid was it, Crikey that even sounds a lot now, never mind 30 years ago. I do hope you had plenty of mileage out of the story 'cause it is a lot of money. I promise to buy you 20 pints the next time I am in Montreal we can drink 10 each and then tell everyone we used to be wild and young! and they will say I think you have wet yourself Grandad”
