Although listed logically against the Bridgewater Hall, this Lord Mayor's Reception was held in Manchester Town Hall. This is the inside cover of a nifty little programme.

With commercial sponsorship, no expense was spared - ice sculptures. free bar for hundreds of guests, lavish buffet and different music in different rooms all night - Manchester South Flute Choir, Manchester Girls Choir, Salsa Pa'Gozar, Swing Persuasion, Neil Smith, etc. Raffle prizes were air tickets all over the world.

Lord Mayor Derek Shaw was a lovely bloke - RIP.
