Artefact
The Hirsch String Quartet is programmed by the Northern School of Music in 1955. The quartet seems to perform only established repertoire and doesn't so much mind more contemporary or lesser known composers. Is it a case of selling tickets maybe? Free or cheap concerts by students can play lesser known works as it's not primarily a money-making exercise (as is the case with the NSM itself) but an established quartet has its own bills to pay and must have bums on seats. Maybe!
