“That's not bad, ten set changes to the previous night, and two of the three that were played at the previous gig were in the encore at this one!

That's what I loved about them back in the mid 80s, you never knew what you were getting from one night to the next!”

“A bit belated, but I've added this to the new-order.net gigography, many thanks as always. BM and Temptation were encores, or was this all in the main set?”

“They were most likely encores as there's a break in the recording. Also, they were segued together, linked by the string sound on the keyboard which Bernard (I think) kept going and changed to match Temptation's two chord intro, until the song started properly along with him.”

“Any chance of verifying the full Santa Monica 85 and the Osaka 6/5/85 sets please?”

“Santa Monica 85 is coming up very soon (will do it tomorrow), with Osaka there is a tape labelled '6/5/85' and the set matches the listing we have for 4/5/85, so I presume there was only one gig and probably on the 6th.”

“Will be very good to get the full Santa Monica listing!

I'm guessing the 6/5/85 is another post-date, especially if it was set aside and only labeled back in England. What would the band have done for four days in Japan from the 2nd to the 6th otherwise? Plus the audience recording that exists labelled 4/5/85...it's still not out of the question that the group may have played more than three gigs in Japan, though...”

“Well they recorded As It Is When It Was and State of the Nation for a start, allegedly!

Did we ever get the Hong Kong gig set?”
