"Herr Hitler made me fifteen minutes late for the sausage and mash, which is a serious matter," writes Geoffrey to Ida. He had to walk a way home when the air raid warning came up, which is "again a serious matter, for no walk is really attractive unless you are walking with me."
He praises the new BBC radio channel that worked strongly even through the warning.
He talks of plans to enlist in the air force to support the war effort with his pal from work, and is glad this his business plans didn't work out to buy a travel agents in Rusholme since now the war has started.
Most tragically, fish and chips isn't quite what it used to be due to rationing and shortages.
