The Monthly Band on the Wall brochure - there are probably several other Mancunian bands on this brochure but I'm not certain who is or isn't aside from those listed in the heading. Granted Nico is an honourary Manc, the band she appeared with was put together by Dave Formula from Magazine and Visage.
I quote from the reverse of this brochure:

"Mondays cover 80s Dance, post-new-wave, techno, space-age, index-linked, post-synth, sattelite-shuffle, modernism, or whatever the hell N.M.E's calling it this week."

Is this the first use of the word techno? - I'm joking..

On the Jazz side of things this was the first appearance of US trumpeter Nat Adderley - Cannonball's brother - he was probably as good but less famous because his name wasn't as cool.
