Artefact
The Comedians, Manchester Palace, September 1972.
Johnnie Hamp's TV show 'The Comedians' made huge stars of a raft of (mostly) Northern working class stand-ups. In an incredible year, the squad was split into an 'A' team which would sell out the London Palladium for 5 months then tour and the 'B' team which would mirror their performance at Blackpool's North Pier and in a number of cities around the country - at times criss crossing theatres a week after each other and still selling out.
This is a ticket for the 'A' squad which comprised Ken Goodwin, Charlie Williams, Jos White, Jimmy Marshall (who replaced Bernard Manning who returned home to Manchester a few weeks into the London residency), Mike Reid and Dave Butler. The reverse shows that it was a comp and it seems that the dates were changed or the ticket scribbled on because it was a freebie.
