Artefact

Photograph
Northern School Of Music (NSM)
1960

The Northern School of Music itself! Most of the premises of the school were either destroyed or repurposed and this is one of the only images we have of any of the buildings. This is its final address of Oxford Rd, corner of Sydney Street, probably taken by All Saints Park.

You were greeted upon entry by Griff, the bursar, in a lugubrious "hello" of pipe tobacco and tunnelled your way through the various levels and rooms of the jigsaw building to your lessons.

Not sure of the exact date but likely before the Mancunian Way flyover was built.
